The latest version of NebuTech's NBMiner software has fully cracked Nvidia's Lite Hash Rate (LHR) limiter anti-mining technology on both Windows and Linux, enabling crypto-miners to unlock 100 percent of the cryptocurrency mining capabilities of Nvidia's RTX 3000-series GPUs. The news comes a couple days after Nicehash's Quickminer managed to bypass the LHR limiter on Windows, enabling miners to use the full potential of their GeForce RTX 3000-series graphics cards to mine Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies on Windows-based systems.
Nvidia launched Lite Hash Rate (LHR) versions of most of its graphics cards last year in the middle of an acute GPU shortage that saw massive amounts of scalping and price-gouging. While the shortage was partly due to a supply-side crunch, a result of Covid-related restrictions in China and elsewhere, it was exacerbated by cryptominers mopping up every available card from the market, leaving very few for gamers and DIY enthusiasts. In the midst of this crisis, Nvidia introduced the LHR to reduce the mining performance for Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies and make these cards relatively unattractive to miners.

Miners have been trying to bypass Nvidia's hash-rate limiter since it was introduced last year, but they only had limited or partial success. For example, NBMiner's older LHR bypass algorithm could only unlock around 70 percent of the mining performance of the RTX 3000-series cards, but the latest update has changed all that. According to NBMiner's official listing page on GitHub, the software has to be run with admin privilege to get the 100 percent LHR unlock to work. The developer claims that the effectiveness has
