The anime streaming giant Crunchyroll has just dropped the cult-classic Crypt of the NecroDancer on Android. You can dive into this beat-driven adventure that’s a roguelike rhythm game. On mobile, it’s actually titled just ‘Crunchyroll: NecroDancer.’
Developed by Brace Yourself Games, the game first dropped on PC in April 2015. The game actually already made a brief appearance on iOS back in 2016 and on Android in 2021. But now, it’s back, thanks to Crunchyroll on both iOS and Android with a truckload of content with it.
The game puts you in the rhythm-challenged shoes of Cadence, the daughter of a treasure hunter who’s gone missing in a spooky, rhythm-infused crypt. It’s a roguelike, which means every run is different.
You get 15 playable characters, each with their unique play styles and challenges. You get to move and groove to the beat of Danny Baranowsky’s epic (and original) soundtrack. Jam while trying to dodge enemies and collect loot while dancing your way through procedurally generated dungeons.
Every move, every attack—it’s all about staying in sync with the music. Miss a beat, and you’re toast. The enemies you’ll face are just as groovy, from dancing skeletons to hip-hop-loving dragons. Take a look at them in the official trailer below!
Crunchyroll and the developers have spiced things up with some extra goodies in Crypt of the NecroDancer mobile. There are remixes, new content and even some quirky Danganronpa character skins for all the anime crossover fans. The game also comes with cross-platform multiplayer and mod support.
And if you’re a Hatsune Miku fan, keep your eyes peeled because DLC with the popular virtual pop star and the Synchrony expansion is coming later this year. So, if you have a Crunchyroll subscription, you can jump into this rhythm roguelike right now. Check it out on the Google Play Store.
