The second season of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 is live, and Activision has revealed the patch notes for the big update. Season 2 is bringing a new battle pass, more weapons, new maps, and plenty of weapon tuning and bug fixes. Here we highlight all the major changes for this new season.
In terms of content, Season 2 adds a battle pass with 100 tiers of content, including the Ronin operator and five new weapons. The Ashika Island map arrives to battle royale and DMZ, bringing a new boss encounter, a new Contract type, and more. Modern Warfare 2 adds the Infected game mode and new maps for both 6v6 and Ground War.

Players can also take part in Season 2's Path of the Ronin seasonal event, which works much like past events for Call of Duty. There are seven challenges to be completed in Warzone 2 or Modern Warfare 2, and completing all seven challenges for the event will unlock Season 2's Crossbow weapon.
Season 2 includes a ton of weapon balancing. The M13B assault rifle was buffed to increase damage at mid-range and provide increased upper-torso damage, while the popular TAQ-V battle rifle received major nerfs. The TAQ-V now has decreased mid-range damage, decreased full-auto head damage, and reduced semi-auto rate of fire. Another notable change is tuning to the X13 pistol, as the pistol received buffs to damage profiles but a reduction to damage while using the Akimbo version.
