The original Angry Birds released in 2009, but was delisted from mobile storefronts in 2019. Now, it's back.
Rovio Entertainment confirmed the re-release of the classic Angry Birds on its official Twitter account «Red the Angry Bird» on March 31, 2022. The game is now available to play again on iOS and Android devices and includes every part of the original game. That includes all the stages, Easter eggs, and extras, all available to experience for new players and those players returning for a hit of nostalgia.
Classic Angry Birds Games Are Making A Comeback
On mobile app markets, it has been titled Rovio Classics: Angry Birds and will cost $1 to purchase, but after purchase, the game will be completely free of advertisements and microtransactions. The game will also include the previously separate Mighty Eagle DLC at no extra cost which offers players a higher level of difficulty than the main game.
Angry Birds was de-listed from mobile storefronts back in 2019. However, last summer, Rovio released a letter announcing plans to bring the beloved classic back to mobile screens. In the letter, Rovio apologized to fans of the franchise for de-listing titles such as Angry Birds Classic and Angry Birds Seasons with no warning. It continued to explain the decision as necessary, citing the issues with maintaining and updating games built using older technologies. The game was originally built in a proprietary engine, but the new version has been built in Unity to perform more efficiently on newer mobile devices. The new remake of Angry Birds will be fully updated and playable on modern mobile platforms with continuing support.
