Many have been wondering how Chris Pratt’s Mario will sound in the upcoming film. And while that voice hasn’t been revealed to the public, Pratt claimed it will be “unlike anything you’ve heard.” The actor spoke about this “updated” voice to Variety.

He said he was proud of his rendition after he worked with the directors to figure out what worked and what didn’t. “I worked really closely with the directors and trying out a few things and landed on something that I’m really proud of and can’t wait for people to see and hear,” he said. “It’s an animated voiceover narrative.

It’s not a live-action movie. I’m not gonna be wearing a plumber suit running all over. I’m providing a voice for an animated character, and it is updated and unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario world before.” Co-Producer Chris Meledandri recently told TooFab that this mysterious voice won’t be the stereotypical Italian accent, but said that will be covered in the film.

He also recently defended casting Pratt, who is not Italian, as Mario. It might be some time until this voice is officially revealed, too, as the movie was delayed into 2023.
