Netflix has announced the title for the upcoming Chicken Run 2 and released a first image that teases the film's storyline. The original Chicken Run, released in 2000, was the first feature-length film produced by Aardman Animations, who created the iconic British animated shorts Wallace and Gromit. The film follows a group of chickens, led by Ginger, desperately trying to escape the farm they are kept in before they are killed and baked into meat pies. When a circus rooster named Rocky crashes into the farm, he becomes their only chance to escape captivity.
The film was an immense success and is, to this day, the highest-grossing stop-motion animated film in history. Despite this, Aardman opted not to pursue any sequels and instead produced more original features such as Flushed Away and Early Man as well as a feature-length Wallace and Gromit movie, Curse of the Were-Rabbit. But, nearly 18 years after the original, Aardman confirmed they were developing a follow up which is set to debut on Netflix in 2023.

The Netflix UK & Ireland account has revealed both the title of the sequel and a first look image that tells fans what to expect. The account confirmed that the sequel is titled Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget and confirms the return of Rocky and Ginger as well as “a whole coop of new friends”. The image sees Rocky and Ginger looking on in shock as a tiny chicken foot breaks free from inside an egg. The thread also confirms a cast featuring Thandiwe Newton, Zachary Levi, and Bella Ramsay.
