Polish games firm CD Projekt says that it has made improvements to its culture to ensure that staff have a better work-life balance.
That's according to the director of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty, Gabe Amantangelo, who told Bloomberg that the studio has implemented processes to try to stop workers from burning out. This includes systems which track how much employees are working, which will let management know if anyone is working for extended periods of time.
"Fortunately, it's a very healthy work-life balance right now," Amantangelo said.
He did however add that he'd allow staff to work extra hours if they want to, but 'only to a certain degree'.
This comes several years after CD Projekt vowed to make Cyberpunk 2077 without "mandatory" crunch. The company reneged on this promise to complete the ambitious sci-fi RPG, implementing a six-day workweek.
Later, one of the firm's joint CEOs, Adam Kiciński, told investors that the crunch was "not that bad". He later had to apologise to staff for these comments.
CD Projekt has once again promised no crunch for its upcoming new entry in The Witcher franchise.
