Call of Duty: Warzone is no stranger to over-the-top content. For example, the 80s Action Heroes event saw players controlling the likes of Rambo and John McClane and battling through some of their movies’ most iconic settings. Still, the addition Raven Software is making to Call of Duty: Warzone is even sillier, especially since it seems to be part of the actual narrative.
With Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3’s trailer teasing Godzilla, and another trailer showing that the beast will be facing off with King Kong, the battle royale will soon become the home for a giant monster fight. While this could prove entertaining for fans of King Kong and Godzilla, those that care about the ongoing Call of Duty: Warzone story could see their appearance as too silly. While featuring an event built around Kaiju is fun, as the beasts can be in-game bosses or serve as the storm, working them into the story is truly strange.
Call of Duty: Vanguard Adding Awesome New Skins Based on Godzilla and King Kong
For context, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops featured far more grounded Warzone stories that did not incorporate characters from other IPs. In the case of Modern Warfare’s Warzone story, players saw Captain Price hunt down Victor Zakhaev and stop him from launching a nuclear missile. Black Ops Cold War’s storyline was a direct continuation of the campaign, as it saw Stitch go to war with Adler and revealed the true identity of Perseus.
Prior to Season 3’s intro cutscene, Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Warzone story had been grounded as well. The first cutscene saw Butcher landing on a beach and finding a secret Nazi bunker, while the second focused on Nebula V gas he had learned about within the underground facility. Both
