Several popular Call of Duty: Warzone streamers have called out the Godzilla vs. Kong event for being a disappointment. Call of Duty's Godzilla vs. Kong crossover — titled Operation: Monarch — went live today, May 11, across all platforms. Rumors about the event began circulating in March, thanks to details shared by industry insiders such as Tom Henderson. The rumors and speculation persisted for a few weeks before Activision finally confirmed the two monsters would indeed enter the fray.
Activision Blizzard officially teased the crossover content in mid-April, complete with marketing posters hinting at Godzilla's and Kong's arrival. A cinematic trailer for Call of Duty's Operation: Monarch hit the web not too long thereafter, showing King Kong easily taking down a warplane before Godzilla inserted himself into the chaos. Yet another trailer made the rounds before the advent of Warzone's and Vanguard's Season 3 content release; naturally, it, too, built up quite a bit of hype for the Godzilla vs. Kong Operation. Apparently, such anticipation was for naught.

Today, Activision unleashed Operation: Monarch, allowing Call of Duty: Warzone players to experience the thrill of going head-to-head against pop culture icons Godzilla and King Kong. According to multiple streamers, though, the all-new Godzilla vs. Kong event doesn't exactly live up to the hype. Dr Disrespect took to his personal Twitter page to rate Operation: Monarch as a 2.2 out of 10. Another popular Call of Duty streamer, Nickmercs, expressed his disappointment in the "awful" event as well, lamenting that the two titans "don't even fight."
