Netflix Confirms Tie-In Games for Various Shows
During day five of its Geeked Week, popular streaming service Netflix confirmed that tie-in games are being developed for various shows. Netflix has teased delving into the gaming industry with multiple shows focusing on franchises like Castlevania and The Witcher, but it is looking to get into the entertainment medium in a new way now.
During Geeked Week, Netflix announced new shows like The Sandman and Wednesday Adams, extensions for shows such as Sweet Tooth and Manifest, and, as spotted by IGN, tie-in games for some popular series. Netflix has been doing dedicated series revolving around several gaming properties since the first season of Castlevania came out in 2017, and it has gotten progressively further into games with the interactive adventure called Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. Given the success of these releases, Netflix may be anticipating the upcoming game tie-ins could draw subscribers to the service.
Cyberpunk 2077 Getting Anime Adaptation on Netflix
Netflix just unveiled spin-off games set in the universes established by Shadow and Bone, Too Hot to Handle, Money Heist, and The Queen's Gambit. According to developers behind Netflix's spin-off game for Queen's Gambit, the game focuses on the classic tabletop classic Chess as part of a «love letter to the show» and its viewers. Netflix promises there will be no ads, extra fees, or in-app purchases during the Queen's Gambit trailer, but it's currently unclear if this standard applies to the other tie-in games revealed during Geeked Week.
