Activision has announced that it will be shutting down the servers for Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera, aka the original Warzone, on September 21st. This move comes as the company looks to focus solely on the current Warzone and future content for the Call of Duty franchise. When the Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera servers shut down all player progression and inventories will also expire for that title, and not the current Warzone experience.
For those who have bought items for Warzone through either Modern Warfare 2019, Black Ops Cold War, or Vanguard, that content will still be accessible in those specific games. If you have purchased COD Points they will remain on the platform on which they were purchased and are transferrable between Call of Duty games via your Activision account. Activision has also stated that there are no plans to relaunch Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera in the future, so advise deleting the game when it is shut down on September 21st.
Call of Duty: Warzone originally released on March 10th 2020, and has been a hugely popular title since launch, fast becoming a popular battle royale title. It was well supported with different seasons but since the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 in November 2022, has seen the main focus shift to that. It felt inevitable that the original would shut down eventually.
