Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 isn't the only new Call of Duty game launching in 2022. Activision re-confirmed during Summer Game Fest Live today that Warzone 2.0--or whatever final name the game is given--will be released later this year.
A specific release date has not been announced, nor do we know much about the game. As we reported previously, Warzone 2 is confirmed to include the same vehicles, swimming, mantling, and mechanics from Modern Warfare 2, but it's still uncertain whether this next iteration will be a 100% clean slate or include the weapons and skins from previous titles.

«In order to fully deliver this state-of-the-art experience, Warzone 2.0 will feature new Modern Warfare II content and systems with brand-new progression and inventories,» Activision said.
The existing Warzone will «continue as a separate experience,» Activision confirmed. Player progression and existing inventories for the original Warzone will remain in place.
Infinity Ward is leading the development on Warzone 2 alongside Raven Software. Like the original game, Warzone 2 will be free-to-play. And as mentioned, it will share the same engine, which Activision says should help provide the «most seamless and advanced Call of Duty experiences ever.»
Activision said it will announce details on Warzone 2's new map and a «new sandbox mode» for the title as the release draws closer.
