The newest rumours say Call Of Duty: Warzone 2 will be more like the Blackout battle royale mode and not everyone’s thrilled with the idea.
While a proper reveal for this year’s mainline Call Of Duty game, Modern Warfare 2, is likely happening next month, Activision has been less forthcoming about its Warzone sequel.
No real details have been shared aside from it being a ‘new Warzone experience’ and the fact that it’s out this year. However, a new rumour points to it being more like the original Call Of Duty battle royale game.
Before Warzone, the series’ first attempt at battle royale was Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode and it seems that will be a major influence for the Warzone sequel.
Warzone 2 won’t abandon everything that the first Warzone does, however. Loadouts will still be present but will apparently be locked behind strongholds. Depending on the stronghold, you’ll need to complete a different objective to unlock the loadout (e.g., defuse a bomb, kill AI controlled enemies).
Ground loot and pro perks will also return from Warzone, but you will have limited inventory space, similar to Blackout, so you can only pick up so many extra weapons.
Lastly, Verdansk, the original Warzone map, is believed to be coming back and the Highrise map from the 2009 Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be included too. That second one makes sense considering Warzone 2’s release will coincide with the Modern Warfare 2 reboot.
This all comes from YouTuber NerosCinema, who claims to have spoken with someone who has played Warzone 2. Although he’s careful to say some elements may be inaccurate, regular Call Of Duty leaker Tom Henderson has already suggested most of it is true.
