Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is all set to bring back one of the fan-favorite MW2 weapons, the akimbo Model 1887, in the form of an aftermarket part. This will be added as part of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3's Season 3 update, which is slated to release on Wednesday, April 3.
The past few weeks have been quite eventful for Call of Duty Modern Warfare fans, with Sledgehammer building up the hype for the launch of the upcoming season by teasing an array of interesting additions. Apart from the release of four new 6v6 Multiplayer maps, including the likes of 6 Star, Emergency, Growhouse, and Tanked, one of the highlights of the update has been the arrival of the popular Capture the Flag mode in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. It is one of the classic game modes that first featured all the way back in 2004 as part of Call of Duty: United Offensive. However, it seems like the game mode is not the only thing that is making a return.
In an official blog post, Activision reveals that a total of eight aftermarket parts will be making their way to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 as part of the Season 3 update. However, the one that has grabbed the attention of many fans is the Wardens, which is unlocked as part of a weekly challenge. Compatible with the Lockwood Mk2 Marksman Rifle, it basically converts the weapon into duel wield Model 1887 lever-action shotguns.
This is by far one of the most awaited aspects of Season 3 for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 fans, as the Models were some of the most used guns in the original Modern Warfare games. In fact, the Akimbo weapons were so powerful that players could pretty much use them as snipers. However, that didn't last forever since the weapons were eventually patched, with their range being considerably decreased to make them more balanced. Not only that, but the Akimbo attachment also reduced the range of the weapon even further, which ensured that the Model 1887 was no longer a part of the meta.
