Activision will launch its first ever two-week-long free multiplayer trial for a Call of Duty game this month.
Available from March 30 until April 13, the trial will offer players free access to a selection of Call of Duty Vanguard’s multiplayer maps and modes.
It will include “a diverse multiplayer playlist featuring Vanguard’s most popular maps” such as Shipment and Das Haus, as well as its most recently added ones, Casablanca and Gondola.
Also on offer will be a new large-map objective mode set in the Alps, featuring fresh vehicles and a single major objective: capture all the bases to achieve victory.
Activision has reportedly decided to delay next year’s Call of Duty game, which would mark the first time in nearly 20 years that the series has skipped an annual release.
According to a Bloomberg report published in February, the company opted to push back the release of a new Treyarch-led game after last year’s Vanguard failed to meet expectations, “leading some executives to believe that they’re introducing new versions too rapidly”.
Activision is reportedly working on other projects to fill the gap next year, including “a steady stream of additional content” for this year’s premium Call of Duty game and a “new, free-to-play online title”.
It was recently officially confirmed that this year’s Call of Duty release will be a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot, developed by Infinity Ward.
Activision is also working on a mobile version of popular battle royale title Call of Duty Warzone.
