Broken Ranks uses real Slavic folklore as inspiration for its fictional world. The latest update introduces this year’s version of the Forefather’s Eve event, and an update on the mobile version.
The event begins tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. CET and lasts for 30 hours. There will be spirits all over the game world. They are restless spirits, wandering the world in penitence. You can help them out by bringing them a relevant item that is related to a misdeed that they did when they were alive. If you can find them the right item, it will signal that Restless wandering as a spirit in the world is over.
In order to do that, you'll have to defeat hostile undead that are beyond help. They too will be wandering around the world, but they will be making their own mischief and hostilities. If you are successful in defeating the hostile undead during that 30-hour stretch, drops will include things like currencies, utility items, gold, boss entry items, and drifs to enhance your gear with.
Whitemoon Games founder Krzysztof Danilewicz talked about the short, but intense event, and the way that real legends inspire both the event and the atmosphere of Broken Ranks as a whole.
“We decided to focus more on Slavic legends to be more consistent with the world of Broken Ranks. After all, the atmosphere is one of the strongest points of our game. Witches on brooms or smiling pumpkins will be nowhere in sight and yet there are many reasons this event is highly anticipated,” he says.
