Kazue Katō's Blue Exorcist manga is set to return from its hiatus this May, the March issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine revealed on Friday. The long-running supernatural series has been on hiatus since July 2021.
The series was originally slated to return in the May 2022 issue, which would ship in early April but will be included in the June issue instead.

Katō’s Blue Exorcist manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. in 2009. 27 compiled tankōbon volumes have been released so far, and the success of the manga inspired a spin-off series. The Salaryman Exorcist: The Sorrows of Yukio Okumura spin-off manga is written by Katō and illustrated by Minoru Sasaki (Chuusotsu Worker kara Hajimeru Koukou Seikatsu) and was initially serialized in Jump SQ.19 before moving to Jump SQ. in 2015.
A 25-episode anime adaptation by Studio A-1 aired during the Spring and Fall 2011 seasons. The series was directed by Tensai Okamura (The Seven Deadly Sins, Kuromukuro) with Ryōta Yamaguchi (Cutie Honey Flash, Kanon) handling the series composition. Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Promare) composed the music. The series stars Nobuhiko Okamoto (My Hero Academia’s Bakugo, Assassination Classroom’s Karma Akabane) and Jun Fukuyama (Code Geass’ Lelouch, Persona 5’s Ren Amamiya) as twin brothers Rin and Yukio Okumura.
A-1 released Blue Exorcist: The Movie in 2012, with Atsushi Takahashi (Godzilla Singular Point) directing and Reiko Yoshida (A Silent Voice) handling the screenplay.
