Blizzard will take the wraps off Diablo 4 Season 1 this week.
The studio will announce the game’s first season of content during a developer live stream on July 6 at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm GMT.
Game director Joseph Piepiora and lead game producer Timothy Ismay will also detail a number of planned quality of life updates.
The live stream will begin with a deep dive into a new class coming to Diablo Immortal in mid-July, and close with a live Q&A session in which developers field questions from players.
Diablo 4’s seasons – which will appear on a quarterly basis and add new features, questlines, items and balance changes – require the player to complete the main campaign first. To account for this, Blizzard previously said Season 1 would launch in “mid to late July”.
Players will be able to access the Season Journey screen, which will give them details on the new content available and explain which objectives have to be completed to earn each Season’s rewards.
Each Season will include a new Battle Pass, containing 27 free tiers and 63 premium tiers. The free tiers will contain cosmetics and ‘Smouldering Ashes’ (which can be spent on Season Blessings, which give an XP, Gold or Obol bonus).
The premium tiers “will not provide any in-game power”, but will instead provide cosmetics unique to that season, as well as Platinum, according to Blizzard.
Platinum is the game’s premium currency and can be bought with real money. It can either be spent in the in-game shop on new cosmetic items or put towards the purchase of future Battle Passes.
