The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer hints at an answer to a major Wakanda/Thanos mystery: who ruled Wakanda after The Snap. From the moment Black Panther entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the world of Wakanda became a rich location for storytelling and mythology. It also was clear that Black Panther and Wakanda would remain key pieces of the MCU's future, so audiences were shocked to see T'Challa become one of Thanos' snap victims in Avengers: Infinity War. Although he returned in Avengers: Endgame, it raised a big question about who ruled Wakanda after Thanos' actions.
Instead of becoming yet another unanswered MCU question after Avengers: Endgame failed to address Wakanda's status, speculation began to grow that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever could instead reveal the truth regarding Wakanda's throne. Doing so would not only give the MCU a chance to explore what life was like in Wakanda during The Blip but it also could be used to set up the sequel's overall story. The tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020 and Marvel's decision not to recast T'Challa means Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will have to reveal the nation's new leader, in addition to appointing the MCU's next Black Panther.
