Black Mirror is reportedly returning for a sixth season on Netflix, and now we know who may star in the popular anthology series. Variety reports that the new season will feature a long list of big names, not unlike previous installments.
The report said Zazie Beetz (Joker), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Kate Mara (House of Cards), and Josh Hartnett (Black Hawk Down) are set to appear in the new season, along with Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You), Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick), Auden Thornton (This Is Us), Clara Rugaard (Love Gets A Room), and Anjana Vasan (Killing Eve).
Season 6 of Black Mirror has not been announced yet, but a previous report said each episode in the unannounced season will be «more cinematic in scope.» Whatever the case, fans have been waiting for a while, as the three episodes of Season 5 premiered back in June 2019. That season was filled with popular celebrity casting, with stars like Miley Cyrus, Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, Topher Grace, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II appearing in episodes.
Part of the reason why Season 6 may be taking so long is the behind-the-scenes drama. Series creator Charlie Brooker and creative partner Annabel Jones are expected back for Season 6, which will be the first since they left their production company House of Tomorrow. Brooker and Jones started a new company, Broke and Bones, and Netflix was quick to invest in it.
Complicating matters, though, was that House of Tomorrow parent company Endemol Shine Group (which was later acquired by Banijay Group) retained the rights to Black Mirror, so Brooker and Jones were blocked from making more episodes until Netflix worked out a deal with Banijay.
