Ben Affleck’s Batman movie reportedly would have had James Bond influences, which could have manifested in a few different ways. As one of several proposed spinoffs from Zack Snyder’s Justice League that stand as unrealized projects, Affleck’s Batman movie eventually transitioned into Matt Reeves’s The Batman following Affleck’s departure. Though Affleck had left the role of the Caped Crusader behind before the release of the Snyder Cut of Justice League, the actor later returned for some additional filming while also signing on for DC’s upcoming multiverse movie, The Flash.
In a recent interview, Matt Reeves spoke of Affleck’s Batman script, calling it very "action-driven" and “James Bond-ian." Reeves previously made similar comments in the lead-up to The Batman’s debut in early 2022, and one key way that this could have played out lies in Batman’s famous technological elements similar to those of 007. While every big-screen Batman has used elaborate, Bat-themed gadgets, Affleck’s movie might have placed a greater than usual emphasis on this.
