The pen can be found with Oliver; look in his home to the right of the buses in order to find it. It should be located on his desk. The computer will be abandoned over in Sawdust, where Bear and Breakfast players can find Beanie; it's to the west of her watchtower in the northernmost part of the map. But the third item requires players to be paying attention.
When Hank first gets the quest, his bird brother Will will make a comment about how he thinks he has a book somewhere in his room. The line is pretty easy to miss, and anyone who skipped the introductory scenes of the game to get to the good stuff might not remember that Will lives with Hank and his mother.
