Bayonetta 3's Mature ESRB Rating Includes In-Game Purchases
Bayonetta 3 has received a Mature rating from the ESRB for violence, sexual content, and in-game purchases, hinting that the title is content complete and could hit its release date. Nintendo says Bayonetta 3 is launching in 2022, even though it's July and there has only been a single gameplay trailer for the game since it was first announced.
Bayonetta 3 was first announced with a teaser trailer during The Game Awards 2017, showing a brief cinematic of Bayonetta being overwhelmed by a new foe. This trailer was followed by years of radio silence, to the point where rumors started spreading about the game being canceled. Bayonetta 3 developer PlatinumGames moved into publishing in 2020 and the company's shift in direction was thought to be responsible for any delays, despite assurances that the development of Bayonetta 3 was still proceeding as planned. The September 2021 Nintendo Direct featured Bayonetta 3, with a trailer showing the first look at gameplay, as well as a look at Bayonetta's new outfit and hairstyle.
