While there have been plenty of Battlefield titles since Battlefield 3 originally launched, to many fans none of the newer games have been able to live up to the 2011 release. With the critically panned launch of Battlefield 2042 still fresh in fans' minds, one team of modders has set out to give one of the series' older games a fresh start.
This is where the Battlefield 3 Reality mod comes in. Inspired by the Reality Project for Battlefield 2, the Reality mod takes the original game and completely overhauls some key elements. The UI, for example, looks entirely different from that of Battlefield 3, giving players fewer elements on their screen to improve the tactical experience. Gameplay will have a more tactical focus as well, which will provide a more «meaningful» experience, according to the developers behind theReality mod.

Alongside key changes to the gameplay and UI, a new day and night cycle will be introduced, as well as models, maps, and plenty more extra content for the original game. Despite the modding team promising a more tactical experience, Battlefield 3's Reality mod will also allow for over 100 people on a single server, meaning some of that typical Battlefield chaos could also feature should players be so inclined. With fans still disappointed over DICE and EA's handling of Battlefield 2042, they'll likely be glad they can turn to these community projects if they want a Battlefield experience more tied to the franchise's origins.
