Battlefield 2042 Portal Devs Accidentally Create Bot XP Farm
XP farming is a quick way to level up your character, so you can unlock abilities, and in the case of Battlefield 2042, attachments faster. It usually requires exploiting a particular facet of the game repeatedly, until you make it to your desired level. Multiplayer games tend to have unofficial XP farming servers, where players jump in and shoot tons of bots. But it's not every day that a developer itself puts out an XP farm of its own.
As spotted by VG247, one of the latest official experiences brought to the Portal mode involved players being pitted against hordes of knife wielding zombies. The number of zombies and the overall difficulty would increase with each round. While all of that was fine, what the devs seem to have missed was that the recent changes to the XP system meant that those playing Portal would be able to earn full XP and unlocks via Ribbons. This essentially turned the zombie experience into a quick way for players to farm XP.

Understandably, players did not take too kindly to this, with some criticizing the devs for their glaring lack of foresight, and others sharing strategies on how best to farm XP via this mode. While the zombie mode will probably be taken down soon, this is just one among a number of reasons why fans haven't yet warmed up to Battlefield 2042.
Justin Wiebe, senior design director at Ripple Effect took to Twitter to apologize. "I’m not going to lie, this one shouldn’t have gotten through our review process," he said.
