Avengers: Secret Wars is rumored to connect to Tom Hardy's Venom and potentially answer a lingering question that has remained unresolved since Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Hardy's Venom movies, part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, finally crossed over with the Marvel Cinematic Universe when the titular character was transported to the MCU in the Venom 2 post-credits scene. A few months later, Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits scene showed Hardy being transported back to Sony's Spider-Man Universe but inadvertently leaving a piece of the Venom symbiote behind in the MCU. Fans have yet to see the consequences of this scene play out, but a new rumor claims Avengers: Secret Wars will finally address the matter.
According to Cosmic Circus' Alex P, the symbiote left behind in Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits scene will have a role in Avengers: Secret Wars. Unfortunately, no details were provided, as Alex P. only replied, «Yes,» to a question from a fan on X. However, Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to be partly based on the limited comic book series of the same name from the '80s, so fans can speculate that the symbiote's role in the film will involve Tom Holland's Spider-Man.
The original version of Secret Wars depicts how Spider-Man first obtained his black symbiote costume, though he was initially unaware it was an alien species. The symbiote would eventually bond with Eddie Brock, giving birth to the fan-favorite villain Venom. While Hardy's Eddie Brock has already bonded with the symbiote, Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits scene provides Marvel Studios a quick and easy way to give Holland's Peter Parker the black suit forAvengers: Secret Wars.
Giving Holland's Spider-Man the black symbiote suit could have consequences for the character. The symbiote can famously alter their host's personalities by amplifying their darkest urges, which was famously adapted on screen in the '90sSpider-Man animated series and Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, in which Peter Parker
