ASUS's ROG Crosshair X670E GENE motherboard has now achieved a memory overclock of DDR5-9108, the highest so far on AMD's Ryzen 7000 platform.
The AMD Ryzen 7000 & AM5 platform recently saw a big improvement in its support for high-speed DDR5 memory thanks to the AGESA 1.0.0.7b BIOS firmware that's being rolled out by all major AM5 motherboard manufacturers. The BIOS essentially allows the platform to support the high-memory frequencies whereas it was previously impossible to even boot on higher speeds.
As such, we saw speeds beyond DDR5-9000+ on various motherboards, mostly with two DIMMs. The BIOS also supports higher-speed 4-DIMM configurations but not on the same level as 2-DIMM configurations. But with that said, overclockers are currently pushing to see the true capabilities of the AM5 motherboards, and South Korean overclocker, SAFEDISK, has now posted his new record on ASUS's ROG Crosshair X670E GENE motherboard.
Using the ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E GENE motherboard and an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, the overclocker was able to achieve a memory overclock of up to DDR5-9108 (4554 effective). The RAM maintaining timings of CL46-50-50-88-214 was achieved on a pair of G.Skill DDR5-6600 kit that has the specific model number of "F5-6600J3440G16G". No exotic cooling was used to cool down the memory but the CPU was put under a chiller. You can find the CPU-z validation here & a screenshot of the overclocking record below:
These are amazing results coming in from overclockers who are showing us the true potential of the AMD AM5 platform and the recent BIOS updates. We have been told that this is only just the beginning and we can expect even more optimizations on the memory side of things for the AM5 platform in the months ahead.
