Willem Dafoe is already tied to one iconic superhero villain, Spider-Man's Green Goblin, but that won’t stop the actor from wanting more, and in this piece of fan art he definitely looks the part as a potential Joker.
Dafoe is currently back in the news thanks to yet another stellar performance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, nearly 20 years since he first suited up as Norman Osborn, arguably cementing his place Spider-Man'sgreatest foe. However, in recent interviews has expressed his admiration for Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of another crazed villain, and how he would like to tackle the Joker role if he were ever given the chance.

For that reason, Portuguese artist Datrinti (@datrintiart) decided to give Dafoe the jester treatment the acting legend wants by dressing him up as the Joker in one of his more classic and refined iterations. In this glorious piece of fanart, Dafoe takes after a mixture of Joker's older, less grungy and disheveled design. Plus, many of the aesthetics seen in games like the Batman Arkham series and even his Mortal Kombat 11 getup (cane and lapel flower) are included.
The result is certainly something that wouldn’t be out of place in the world Todd Phillips constructed for his Joker film. It’s even possible to imagine this cleaner version of the Joker going up against Arthur Fleck as an “improved” impostor. Obviously, as the picture’s caption suggests, Datrinti is a fan of Dafoe’s, and he’s equally intrigued by what a Joker played by the actor would be like.
