Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom may introduce a vital element to the character's supporting circle as the film is rumored to feature the child of Aquaman and Mera. The first Aquaman was a surprise hit for Warner Bros. as it grossed $1 billion worldwide and became the highest-grossing DC film of all time. The sequel is set for release on March 17, 2023.
Aquaman has a large supporting cast in the comics. While some like Mera and Vulko were featured in the 2018 film, characters like Aqualad and Tula were not. One important character is Arthur Curry Jr., aka Aquababy, who is the son of Aquaman and Mera in the comics. Before Batman and Superman received sons in the comics, Aquaman was one of the first DC superheroes to have a child, as Aqaubaby was introduced in Aquaman #23 in 1965. In 2020 as part of the Future State initiative, DC recently introduced Aquaman and Mera's daughter, Princess Andrina 'Andy' Curry, who goes by the name Aquawoman.

According to The Direct, it appears a child may be coming to the throne of Atlantis. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom may feature the son of Aquaman and Mera. No other details have been confirmed, but the site says the child will be a major part of the film. The wording of son does mean the character will be Arthur Curry Jr. and not Adrina Curry, which makes a certain amount of sense as the film was written before the character debuted. This news should be taken with a grain of salt however since Warner Bros. has not confirmed the report.
