For iPhone and iPad users, the newest versions of iOS and iPadOS bring some substantial changes to the user experience. iOS 16 offers far more customisation options than ever and its beta versions have shown how well they work. iPadOS 16 brings the much awaited Stage Manager feature along with a couple of tweaks and updates to improve the experience. However, if you have been waiting for the update to hit your iPad by September, there is some bad news. iPadOS 16 will be delayed.
The iPadOS 16 update will be released after almost a month of the iPhone 14 launch, say sources close to the matter, according to a Bloomberg report. Hence, iOS 16 is expected to release at around the same time as the iPhone 14 series launch whereas the iPadOS 16 update could be released by October 2022. The delay is said to have been caused largely due to the new Stage Manager feature, which has been found to be buggy in beta testing.
The iPadOS 16 update is said to have issues with several bugs with the Stage Manager feature. “During beta testing, the system has drawn criticism from some developers and users for its bugs, a confusing interface and lack of compatibility with most iPads. Staggering the release schedule will also allow Apple to put more engineering resources into completing iOS 16, the software update that will come included with the iPhone 14 in September,” says the Bloomberg report.
The delayed iPadOS 16 release will also bring it closer to the launch of the new iPad launches. Previous reports have suggested that Apple is planning to release a new model of the iPad Pro with the Apple M2 chip. This will be accompanied by the new base iPad model that will get a new chipset upgrade as well as the USB-C port for charging and data
