Apple has launched the Self Service Repair for iPhones recently. The tech giant will provide repair manuals and genuine Apple parts and tools through the Apple Self Service Repair Store to carry out this repairs. But if you think that the company is changing its stance on third-party tools for iPhones, then let us tell you it’s not like that. Instead there’ll be restrictions on how and which parts can be used for the self repair. Here’s all you need to know about Apple’s Self Service Repair programme
The programme available through Apple Self Service Repair Store will offer more than 200 individual parts and tools. Initially, Apple will allow users to complete repairs on the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 lineups and iPhone SE (3rd generation) parts like the display, battery, and camera. However, there is a catch! These tools will be available for a 7-day rental at $49, but if you want to buy a particular one you will have to pay the price accordingly. Do note that users can only use the parts that have been approved by Apple.
The tool kit will come with a heavy range of equipment, which might not be necessary for repairs all the time.
Users can avail the weeklong rental kits by paying the rental charge. Users can either fix their iPhone with these tools or visit a professional repair provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts.
All this means Apple has the liberty to price its own products, as well as the spare parts that can be used in this program.
Apple's self service repair program will cost iPhone users more than what they would pay by visiting an Apple repair center. As reported by iFixit, Apple’s iPhone 12 display will cost $269.95 ( ₹20,650 approx).
