The CW has announced the cancellation of its series Charmed, Dynasty, In the Dark, and Roswell, New Mexico. The network, which was created in 2006 when UPN and The WB folded, has had a tumultuous few months. Their parent companies WarnerMedia and ViacomCBS are potentially seeking to sell the network, claiming that The CW has never turned a profit over the course of its entire history. Still, the network has housed some substantial hits, including the gritty Archie Comics reboot Riverdale, which is currently airing season 6, and the Arrowverse family of shows, which includes Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and its spinoff Superman & Lois.
When the news of this potential sale was being processed, many of the network's existing shows were on the bubble for longer than usual, waiting to hear if they would be renewed or canceled. The CW finally began passing judgement recently, and it has resulted in a huge swath of cancellations across the board. Even the popular Arrowverse has experienced severe cuts with the cancellation of Batwoman, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and Naomi, which was just axed today after one season. So far, only The Flash, Superman & Lois, All American, Kung Fu, Riverdale, Nancy Drew, and the Jared Padalecki reboot series Walker have stayed off the chopping block.

Per Variety, The CW has officially canceled four additional shows. This includes the original series In the Dark, which followed a blind woman solving a murder mystery. It has also given the ax to its reboots Charmed, Dynasty, and Roswell, New Mexico. Of the three reboots, Dynasty had the longest run with 5 seasons and was a reimagining of the iconic '80s soap opera.
