Anthony Mackie is set to make his directorial debut with an upcoming biopic. The film will center around the Civil Rights pioneer, Claudette Colvin. Having starred in the Disney+ series,The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and following the announcement of his starring role in the upcoming Captain America 4, Mackie is getting behind the camera for the upcoming Colvin biopic.
Prior to the events surrounding Rosa Parks, Colvin was arrested at the age of 15 for refusing to give up her seat to a white woman on a segregated bus in 1955. Gayle case, in which the judges agreed that bus segregation in the state of Alabama was deemed unconstitutional under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. Although she championed for the end of segregation, many of her efforts remained unrecognized as Civil Rights campaigners dismissed her achievements due to her having a pregnancy out of wedlock.
