It's intended for 1 to 4 players, with robust systems for character progression and combat. That includes a wide selection of skills and spells drawn from The Elder Scrolls Online, not to mention character classes inspired by heroes from the game and universe. It is, like the other board games based on The Elder Scrolls before it, effectively an RPG.
Skyrim Board Game Includes Prequel Story
The board game's setting and its story will all draw from The Elder Scrolls Online and The Elder Scrolls overall, as well. According to an initial description of the game's story, players will be involved in an effort by King of the Worms Mannicarco's attempt to join Coldharbour, a plane of Oblivion, with Nirn. It's also confirmed that the adventure will see players crossing all over Tamriel, rather than being restricted to any single region.
