Amy Hennig is creating a new and original story-driven action game set in the Star Wars universe. Skydance New Media announced today that it is collaborating with Lucasfilm Games on the project that sees studio President Amy Hennig return to Star Wars game development. The award-winning director and writer previously worked on celebrated games such as the Uncharted and Legacy of Kain franchises.
As part of the news release, Hennig said, “ I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in the galaxy that I love.” Douglas Reilly, vice president of Lucasfilm Games, added, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working again with Amy. She and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create a unique Star Wars adventure.” There are no concrete details about this Star Wars game yet, but Reilly says that the studio is “looking forward to sharing more with Star Wars fans when the time is right.”
Skydance New Media is a subdivision of Skydance Media, formed in 2019 by Hennig and producer Julian Beak. This new Star Wars game marks the second game that the developer is working on. The studio previously confirmed the development of an original Marvel game in 2021.
Hennig last worked on the Star Wars franchise with Visceral Games before its unfortunate cancellation. On the bright side, it seems like Skydance New Media is providing her with a dream team of talented developers. The studio now includes “developers and artists with decades of AAA experience in action and adventure gaming, as well as a diverse team of creative consultants from the worlds of film, television, games, and comics.”
