The Top 7 contestants performed two songs in the latest American Idol episode, during which they were mentored by legendary singer and record producer will.i.am. The themes were TikTok sensations and Mother's Day dedications.
Two of the American Idol Top 7 contestants faced adversity this week because Fritz and Noah were both diagnosed with COVID-19. While a visibly sick Noah performed live from his hotel room, Fritz was diagnosed the morning of the show and American Idol aired his dress rehearsal. After their performances, the finalists were narrowed down to the Top 5. Christian and Jay received the lowest numbers of votes and were eliminated from the competition. The remaining contestants will now head to Las Vegas for a once-in-a-lifetime mentoring session with country superstar and American Idol season 4 winner Carrie Underwood.
