American Idol Season 20 Top 7 Finalists Release Their Singles
The American Idol season 20 Top 7 finalists Nicolina, Jay Copeland, Christian Guardino, Fritz Hager, HunterGirl, Leah Marlene and Noah Thompson released their new singles that reflect each of their unique musical styles. The Top 7 contestants performed two songs in the latest American Idol episode, during which they were mentored by legendary singer and record producer will.i.am. The themes were TikTok sensations and Mother's Day dedications.
Two of the American Idol Top 7 contestants faced adversity this week because Fritz and Noah were both diagnosed with COVID-19. While a visibly sick Noah performed live from his hotel room, Fritz was diagnosed the morning of the show and American Idol aired his dress rehearsal. After their performances, the finalists were narrowed down to the Top 5. Christian and Jay received the lowest numbers of votes and were eliminated from the competition. The remaining contestants will now head to Las Vegas for a once-in-a-lifetime mentoring session with country superstar and American Idol season 4 winner Carrie Underwood.

On Friday, May 13, the American Idol Top 7 finalists released their new singles, which are available for both downloading and streaming. The American Idol contestants took to Instagram to promote their songs and to give a bit of backstory about the tracks. Nicolina described her single, «Glitter,» as a «beautiful yet haunting depiction of grief.» She said that the song is originally by Patrick Droney and that she was over the moon when she found out that remaking it was an option for her.
