Knowing all of Ditto’s disguises in during November 2023 can significantly improve your odds of encountering the elusive creature, simply due to the fact that you will know where to look. The classic and strange Generation 1 Pokémon is present in the popular mobile catching game, but it does not appear in its regular form. Instead, Ditto lives up to its shapeshifting reputation and actually hides behind disguises of certain Pokémon. You will only know you have captured a Ditto after successfully capturing one of the creatures it uses as a disguise, as a message will appear indicating that it was a trick.
So far, only one other Pokémon shares a similar mechanic with Ditto. Catching Zorua in works similarly in the sense that it also disguises itself. Zorua, however, always disguises itself as the Pokémon you carry around as your buddy. As such, if you have a Shiny Groudon with you, a Shiny Groudon will appear on the map – which is a great way of knowing a Zorua is around because Shiny Groudon do not simply spawn. Ditto, on the other hand, uses the guise of common Pokémon, though the list of creatures tends to change every so often, so it is best to be up-to-date.

Ditto tends to disguise itself with the looks of regular Pokémon that often appear in the game, especially outside of event periods and such. Common creatures like Paras, Spinarak, Numel, and Bidoof have all been used as camouflage for Ditto in the past. Nevertheless, the creature updated its list of preferred disguises in March 2023, when the special Team GO Rocket Takeover was held.
