Microsoft has reintroduced a $1 trial offer for some Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.
The introductory offer lets players get their first month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass for $1 / £1 (the deal is not available for Game Pass for console).
The same offer was previously available for several years before Microsoft ended it in March, when it said it was “evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future”.
Existing Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass subscribers who use the trial offer to upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can carry over their pre-paid membership time at the current conversion ratio, up to a maximum of 36 months.
The $1 offer’s reintroduction follows Microsoft’s move to raise Game Pass prices this week.
As of July 6, prices increased in most markets excluding Norway, Chile, Denmark, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia.
The monthly price of an Xbox Game Pass subscription for console rose from $9.99 to $10.99 (£7.99 to £8.99 / €9.99 to €10.99).
And the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price increased from $14.99 per month to $16.99 (£10.99 to £12.99 / €12.99 to €14.99).
PC Game Pass pricing didn’t change, remaining at $9.99 / £7.99 per month.
The latest wave of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass includes Grand Theft Auto 5, Exoprimal, The Cave and Techtonica.
Microsoft will also raise Xbox Series X console prices in August in most countries excluding the US, Japan, Chile, Brazil and Colombia.
