It’s finally here! I usually avoid cliché terminologies like ‘much-awaited,’ but in this case, I’m compelled to use it. Wondering which game I am talking about? Well, the much-awaited sequel to AFK Arena, AFK Journey, is set to drop on March 27, 2024. This free-to-play fantasy RPG will be available on both mobile and PC devices.
Farlight Games, the publishers of AFK Arena, Call of Dragons and Dislyte is bringing AFK Journey to you as well. The new game is going to have an open world with strategic gacha battles and the laid-back fun of idle games. Fans of AFK Arena will feel right at home but don’t confuse it as just another sequel.
You’ll be putting together the ultimate squad and throwing down with enemies. And what’s cooler than using the terrain and a few well-placed traps to snag a win? While you’re Away From your Keyboard, your in-game allies can go on mini-adventures to snag goodies on your behalf.
Just like Arena, AFK Journey takes place in Esperia. You’ll step into the shoes of Merlin, the legendary wizard. However, he’s having a bit of a tough time now as he has lost his powers and memory. Now, you need to piece everything back together as Merlin.
In AFK Journey, you won’t need to spend ages levelling up every character individually (or should I say endless character grinding). You can level up your favourites and the rest of your team can catch up idly. They’ve also made it easy to swap gear between characters of the same type.
Also, you get to explore a 3D open world with changing day-night cycles and weather. It’s a lively backdrop that’s always shifting, dubbed as Live Canvas Art Style by Fairlight. You can pre-register for AFK Journey right now on the Google Play Store. If you’re in China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand or Vietnam, you’ll have to wait a bit longer though.
