A Plague Tale: Innocence takes the player on a narrative journey based around survival and stealth. Most of the enemies encountered by protagonist Amicia will kill her on sight if she is spotted in the first Plague Tale game, with the exception of enemies with unprotected heads, who can be taken out with the player's sling. For many, A Plague Tale: Innocence is about Amicia protecting her younger brother more than it is about taking the fight to the Inquisition for what they have done to her family. However, it seems that the sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, may change that.
A Plague Tale: Requiem is the second historical game set in the time of the Hundred Years War from Focus Entertainment and French developer Asobo Studio. Like A Plague Tale: Innocence before it, A Plague Tale: Requiem will feature a heavy amount of realism and historical accuracy despite being a fictional work. It will also feature Amicia as the main protagonist as she continues to protect her brother Hugo. However, from a new gameplay trailer shown at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, it seems there will be a few major differences in A Plague Tale: Requiem from it's predecessor.

The trailer opens with some bodies hanging from a tree, letting viewers know they're still in for a gritty and gory experience. Then, the perspective changes to show Amicia walking through some of the new environments players will encounter in A Plague Tale: Requiem. While this will at first appear familiar to fans of A Plague Tale: Innocence, Requiem quickly shows how it will turn up the action as a montage of Amicia killing enemies is shown.
