A player claims they’ve discovered a hidden section of NieR: Automata five years after its release, and the community has no idea how they’ve done it.
The discovery began over a month ago when Reddit user u/radfutago asked members of the Nier Automata Reddit why they were able to access the church when their friend couldn’t. This was met with confusion as no such area was known to exist.
Since then, the user has posted a video which appears to show them going through an inaccessible door and into a twisted white corridor. This area has never been discovered by another player.
Adding to the mystery, it’s been discovered that the area seemed to exist in an old concept art version of the area, which was cut from the final game. However, this doesn’t explain how the player was able to access it or how it took so long to be discovered.

Yosuke Saito, one of the producers of the game, responded to the discovery by posting a cryptic quote-retweet to one of the videos of the area being accessed.
Creator Yoko Taro had previously stated that all of the mysteries in the game had been solved, leading many to speculate that this area was never intended to be found, and has been removed in subsequent versions of the game.
