A new gameplay trailer for Tekken 8 has been released, showing Kazuya Mishima in action.
The trailer shows the series veteran taking on his sun Jin Kazama in a stage that looks similar to New York’s Times Square.
The video also shows Kazuya transforming into his Devil form, and using his Killer Beam move on Jin.
While it’s not yet known how Kazuya will transform into Devil, it’s likely related to the game’s Heat Mode feature, where players can trigger a special state for their character for a brief period, gaining new abilities.
The new trailer can be seen below:
Kazuya is one of the most popular characters in the Tekken series, and has appeared in every game except for Tekken 3 (which instead marked the debut of his son Jin, who’s since become the series’ main protagonist).
Initially appearing to be the hero of the first game, it was soon revealed that Kazuya was actually one of the series’ main villains, with plans for world domination.
In 2021, Kazuya was added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate as its penultimate DLC character (followed only by Sora from Kingdom Hearts). He’s also therefore the only Tekken character to have his own amiibo figure.
Tekken 8 was first officially announced in September 2022, during a PlayStation State of Play livestream.
Earlier this month, Bandai Namco confirmed a closed alpha test for Tekken 8 will be taking place across multiple locations globally, in order to gather feedback on the new battle systems introduced in the game.
The first closed alpha test will be held at Evo Japan next month. In order to participate, players will need to apply via a special website.
