Soon Sony will be launching its revamped PlayStation Plus subscription service in an attempt to better-compete with Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass and bring more subscribers into the fold. The new PlayStation Plus will offer subscribers three different tiers to choose from: PS Plus Essential, which is the service as it exists now; PS Plus Extra, which essentially combines current benefits with a slew of PS4 and PS5 games to play; and PS Plus Premium, which throws hundreds of retro games from the PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 libraries into the mix.
Even though the PS Plus revamp date is right around the corner, Sony has yet to provide a comprehensive list of all the games subscribers can expect to see from the service at launch. However, it has provided a sneak peek, revealing some of the games that subscribers to the new PS Plus subscription tiers will get to play. There are certainly some high profile games in the lineup that could very well make it worth the upgrade for some PlayStation gamers, but it's been pointed out that a lot of the games have already been free through PS Plus at one point or another.

Reddit user schneper has compiled a list of the PS4 and PS5 games that will be free with PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium that have previously been free through the regular PS Plus program. As it turns out, a lot of the games in Sony's initial announcement have already been free before. This means that dedicated PS Plus subscribers who make sure to claim the free games every month may have less to look forward to than newcomers to the service.
