Petroglyph Games have announced the sequel to its 2016 real-time strategy game 8-Bit Armies, 9-Bit Armies: A Bit Too Far. In the sequel, players command military forces across diverse battlefields, waging strategic warfare across land, sea, and air. The game offers a new sort of pixelated pyromania, allowing players to deploy airborne units, demolish bridges, and unleash powerful superweapons.
9-Bit Armies is designed for real-time strategy newbies and veterans alike. The game supports online multiplayer, online co-op campaigns, and skirmish battles for up to eight players.
For players preferring more of a single player experience, the game features two expansive campaigns with 30 missions. Additionally, 9-Bit Armies will offer mod support, allowing players to customize their experience with community-made maps, units, and game rules.
Petroglyph Games and its founders have a pedigree in creating iconic real-time strategy games. From the original Command & Conquer and Command & Conquer: Red Alert developed when its founders Joe Bostic, Michael Legg, and Steve Tall were still at Westwood Studios, to Star Wars: Empire at War as Petroglyph Games, which just recently received 64-bit support 17 years after its release.
9-Bit Armies: A Bit Too Far is set for release sometime in 2024. Wishlist it now on Steam.
