Apple is scheduled to host its WWDC 2023 event on June 5, where it will see fit to announce its upcoming IOS 17, watchOS 10, macOS 14, and tvOS 17 updates to the general public. Initially, iOS 17 will be available as a beta to developers, which they can test on compatible iPhone and iPad devices. Ahead of the event, Apple has shared iOS 16 adoption rate since its launch. As mentioned earlier, Apple will announce iOS 17 next week on June 5, alongside a plethora of other updates for the Apple Watch, iPad, Macs, and more. Besides software updates, the company is also expected to announce new Macs and the highly anticipated AR Headset. iOS 16 adoption has now reached 81 percent. This means that 81 percent of all active iPhones are running a version of iOS 16. 19 percent of the total active iPhones are still running an older firmware.
In February, iOS 16 adoption rate was recorded at 72 percent. Apart from this, 13 percent of active iPhones are still running iOS 15, while 6 percent of iPhones are running an even older version of iOS. Apple usually stops signing an older iOS build after a new one is released, locking the option for users to downgrade. Henceforth, if your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS, it can not be downgraded to the previous build. If we compare the statistics from last year in the same time frame, iOS 15 was installed on almost 90 percent of active iPhones.
