As we settle into 2022, publishers are gearing up to deliver wave after wave of video game entertainment over the next few months. February is particularly stacked with excellent titles, and even includes a surprise blast from the past.
Before we dive into what February offers, let's appreciate January's terrific haul. God of War arrived on PC in early January, delivering impressive visuals, high-flying action, and spectacular set pieces. Monster Hunter Rise on PC enhanced the addictive, beast-slaying action introduced with the Nintendo Switch version, and offered high frame rates and thrilling multiplayer combat, too. Windjammers 2 revived the shockingly fast-paced, pong-inspired Neo Geo arcade sports game by adding more athletes, more moves, and an awesome new art style. Rounding out the month was Pokémon Legends: Arceus for the Nintendo Switch, a region-based RPG that combines action and stealth with the iconic pocket monster battles that fans love.
February is no slouch, though. Fighting game fans have the release of The King of Fighters XV to look forward to on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, with its beefy 39-character roster, enhanced defensive mechanics, and new visuals. FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is finally upon us, giving PC and console gamers the grim, gritty action and massive open world we have eagerly awaited since the game’s 2019 reveal.
That said, there are many more games poised to launch throughout the month, ranging from God Hand-style martial arts action to classic shmup shooting.
