An upcoming superhero film for 2023 reportedly had 45 screenwriters involved in shaping the script. 2023 is turning out to be a major year for superhero movies, as ten are on the books for a theatrical release. Three from Marvel Studios (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels), three from DC (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Flash, Blue Beetle), three from Sony (Kraven the Hunter, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Madame Web), and one from Paramount Pictures (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Chapter) all have had several people working on them, and one film, in particular, seems to have had a lot of behind the scenes work done.
According to Deadline, one upcoming high-profile superhero movie reportedly had its final script submitted to the Writer's Guide of America (WGA), with insiders saying that 45 different writers have contributed over various stages of development. Deadline never mentioned the film by name, but it notes that it is basically impossible for all 45 writers to get credits on the finished film. This is an extreme example, but the report says having up to 20 writers on a project has become a common practice among these types of blockbuster movies.
