2021's Unpacking Hides Secret & Undiscovered Clue To New Game
Witch Beam, the developer of the indie puzzle game Unpacking, has revealed that the game holds an undiscovered Easter egg that hints at the developer's next game. This tease comes following the announcement that Unpacking will be coming to PS4 and PS5 at some point in the near future, giving more players a chance to unravel this new mystery.
Unpacking follows the life of an unseen protagonist, presenting players with several key moments in her life that involve the unpacking of numerous boxes. To progress through the game, everything must be neatly put away, ready for a new chapter in the protagonist's life. Working to a calm beat, players sort through everything from kitchen utensils to underwear, all of which is rendered in charming pixel art. Every level brings new and interesting items, as well as a vibrant new location for them to be placed in. Despite the simplistic gameplay, the level of detail is remarkable, as is the unspoken life story depicted in Unpacking, which slowly emerges over the course of the game.

A recent blog post from Witch Beam has revealed that Unpacking actually contains a secret easter egg, as of yet undiscovered. At the end of an otherwise ordinary post showcasing recent fan content and media coverage, it was stated that Unpacking actually has a «pixel art rendition of the key art» for Witch Beam's next game, which has so far apparently gone undiscovered. With the sheer number of objects in Unpacking, that isn't too surprising in and of itself, but it also means that players who want to find the easter egg could take a long time to do so.
