Since the start of 2022, Ubisoft has been making more and more of its big games available to play through the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. The ball started rolling when brand-new release Rainbow Six Extraction was made a day one Xbox Game Pass game, which was followed up by the addition of Assassin's Creed Origins and For Honor: Marching Fire Edition at the beginning of last month.
Now Xbox Game Pass is kicking off its slate of new games for July 2022 by adding yet another Ubisoft-published game to the mix. As of July 1, Xbox Game Pass subscribers are free to check out the open world FPS Far Cry 5 across PC, consoles, and the Cloud. No removal date has been announced, and since Xbox Game Pass games typically stay on the service for at least a year, it's safe to say that subscribers will have quite some time to play Far Cry 5 as much as they'd like.
Xbox Game Pass Adds Surprise New Game
Far Cry 5 isn't the latest entry in Ubisoft's popular open world series, but it's still one of the more popular ones. Far Cry 5 takes players to Hope County, Montana, where they find themselves at odds with a dangerous cult led by the villainous Joseph Seed. Far Cry 5 earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its original release, though many have criticized it for sticking too closely to the established Far Cry formula.
Those that have extensively played other games in the Far Cry series may come away from Far Cry 5 with a sense of deja vu, but being able to play it through the Game Pass subscription service is still a steal. Regardless of any franchise fatigue, there's no denying that the Far Cry games are consistently some of the biggest game releases whenever a new one comes out, and so it's still a big «get» for Game Pass.
