Two actors are dead and six crew members have been injured after a car crash in Mexico during the filming of the upcoming Netflix show The Chosen One. The Chosen One series is different from the previous project of the same name on the platform, a Portuguese program that followed doctors discovering a cult in a remote village. This new The Chosen One instead follows a 12-year-old boy who discovers that he is the reincarnated Jesus Christ. It is an adaptation of the 2004 comic book series American Jesus, created by Mark Millar and Peter Gross.
As Netflix productions are kept tightly under wraps, there is not a lot of information yet available about The Chosen One. This includes whether or not the production was a Spanish-language series or an English-language series filming in Mexico for a period. The set of The Chosen One was being run by an independent production company that remains unknown to the general public.

Per Deadline, a van transporting some of the cast and crew of The Chosen One crashed and flipped while driving on a desert road on the Baja California Sur peninsula. Two cast members were killed, while six additional crew members were injured. Although the deceased cast members have yet to be officially identified, some sources including HuffPost report them to be Mexican actors Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar, who acted under the name Paco Mufote in projects including Netflix's Selena: The Series. There is currently no information on the identities of the 6 injured crew members or details on their condition.
The incident appears to be unrelated to the actual filming or stunt work of The Chosen One.
